Artistic AND Informative-- my favorite

Today we continued on through the motions that are known as Resident Assistant training-- which consisted of a visit from the Red Cross today regarding Earthquake Preparedness. To my suprise and much to my pleasure, they presented us with this following video created by "Up-and-coming film director, motion graphics designer and Art Center College of Design alumnus, Theo Alexopoulos." After the session was over I made sure to find out where to find a copy of it (YouTube... duh) and here it is, "Preparedness now", a beautifully made video that "takes you on a visceral journey through the USGS ShakeOut Earthquake Scenario. The film was created by the USGS Multi-Hazards Demonstration Project in cooperation with the Designmatters program at Art Center to depict the physical, social, and economic consequences of the most comprehensive earthquake scenario ever created. The film gives the viewers a sense of what will be happening and inspires them to prepare and mitigate for a faster recovery. The premise underlying the film is that design is a powerful catalyst that can bridge the divide between scientific understanding about damaging quakes, and the ability of the public to feel empowered and to change their behavior in terms of preparedness. "

In other news, these "cone bracelets" by Eddie Borgo haunt my dreams at night (because I love them but they're $495 each.)

Megan Fox editorial, damn girl. Why did you ever have to open your mouth.

My new favorite hair product... it's about time I found out about this:

;-D

Things that came up today:
  • fire extinguishers
  • duck, cover, and hold
  • "Baby Come On Over" Samantha Mumba & "I Wanna Be Bad" Willa Ford
  • Michael Jorden vs LeBron James vs Kobe Bryant - the jumpshot (YouTube video)
  • "There’s the gift, there’s the spirit, and there’s the work—all three have to come together. If one of those things is off, it can stop you from becoming who you were meant to be." --Jay-Z
